MISSION
To attain its goals and realise its vision, SCILS actively
encourages its clients (adults with mild to moderate
intellectual disabilities, 16-64 years of age) in a variety of
interactive, experiential and instructive methods of
learning.
SCILS participants may experience one to one support with
others, and also may be actively individually supported in
larger social groups.
SCILS teaches a full range of independent living skills using a
comprehensive program delivered by educated and experienced
staff. The skills taught and encouraged for each client are
determined and the program is assessed and monitored via an
Individual Support Plan which is implemented with respect to
the individuals abilities, by staff that are well trained and
have developed the personal skills necessary to fully empower
the client and allow the highest potential of the participant
to be realised.
In its staff training, and in its implementation of the
Individual Support Plan, SCILS is committed to a process of
continuous improvement and has a practice of positively and
collaboratively working with other agencies and professionals
of the Sunshine Coast.
