CSM’s Musings  

It is Advent, a time of journeying ; in Nature from Spring ,early Summer to Mid-summer; in Christian circles a journey towards Christmas and towards the birth of Jesus, later to be the bearer of the Christ.  Traditionally at this time Mary and Joseph embarked on a journey, not of freedom but by law for the census.  A very difficult journey over difficult terrain through adverse weather conditions and completely vulnerable to any malevolent  forces that may have been waiting for the innocent on the path ahead. 

Many other cultures and mythologies share this element of journeying, it is not just a theme of Christianity.
