Historically Advent is a difficult time.  A time when we are often challenged and are forced to overcome difficulties.  Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem in mid- winter across a harsh landscape, late in pregnancy for Mary, needing to protect themselves from the attacks of the elements, wild animals, thieves and robbers – the difficulties and challenges they had to overcome, finds its reflection within each of us today as we journey towards Christmas.
