Because of their intellectual disability out clients are more
able to express themselves, more able to convey their
perceptions of the world onto a canvas than us the able bodied
who tend to intellectualise over our artistic abilities – for
instance a house should look like a house. Over the years of seeing the
results of our clients abilities in their art classes I have
been truly amazed by the quality of their work, their ability
to express there inner selves, their uninhibited way of
allowing spiritual forms to arise out of the colours; and also
to paint and draw forms as they perceive the forms, not as they
think they should be. They are the Expressionists
of the Present and they unintellectually allow the spiritual to
find expression via their artistic
endeavours.
