Group Activities & Programs

SCILS holds regular, weekly group activities that promote learning and life skills development, promoting  independence. The emphasis is on having fun wherever we are, and whatever we are doing. Participants are encouraged to be a part of the planning process in selecting suitable future activities and destinations.

Maintenance Group

Safe, fun, interactive, supervised activities focusing on simple maintenance that arises in a person’s life: vehicles, home handyman, gardens.

Social Groups

Socialising with peers and within the community in a fun, safe environment. Visiting a wide range of local attractions, such as Aussie World, The Ginger Factory, Bli Bli Castle, Nambour Historical Museum, “Barra” fishing park to name but a few. Special excursion like “the Ekka” and Disney on Ice are organised too. Bar-b-ques at the Coast’s many lovely parks and themed cooking days are regular events. When we ask our clients to describe what Social Group Days are like the responses were “Adventures, Exploring, Laughing, Good Fun, Friends, Exciting and Enjoyable”

Cooking Group

Taking the fear out of cooking, increasing confidence and skills in the kitchen: Making healthy food choices, Meal planning, Kitchen safety, and Basic cooking skills.

Fun & Fitness Group

Having fun through movement, promoting self confidence, friendships, team building, flexibility of thought and decision making: carefully designed to suit capabilities of participants, warm-up, stretching, activation exercises, simple games to music, Yoga, Tia-Chi, dance, brain gym, ball games, Makaton & Auslan, Drama and Performance

Music Group

Participating in rhythm, tempo and melody, learning what lives behind music and simple music theory: using drums, tambourines, ukeleles, maracas, guitars, flutes, piano and harmonicas, singing and having lots of fun together.

Ten Pin Bowling

A dynamic group for beginners and experienced bowlers, with lots of laughs, a “wee bit” of competitive spirit, and even fancy dress on special occasions.
