Supported Independent Living | Complex Support Needs | Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast Independent Living Service (SCILS) is seeking experienced and compassionate Disability Support Workers to provide active overnight and inactive sleepover support within our Supported Independent Living homes.

This is a rewarding opportunity for skilled support professionals who want to use their experience to make a meaningful difference in participants’ lives. By providing calm, consistent and dependable support throughout the night, you will help participants feel safe and comfortable in their own homes while supporting their independence, wellbeing and quality of life.

About the Opportunity

Working within an established Supported Independent Living home, you will provide responsive, person-centred support to participants with complex and high-intensity needs.

Depending on the requirements of the home, shifts may include:

• Active overnight shifts, remaining awake and available to provide continuous support
• Inactive sleepover shifts, remaining onsite and responding when assistance is required
• Supporting participants with complex needs and behaviours of concern
• Implementing individual support plans and Positive Behaviour Support strategies
• Assisting with personal care, medication and established evening or morning routines
• Monitoring participant wellbeing and responding appropriately to changing needs
• Maintaining accurate documentation, shift notes and professional handovers
• Creating a calm, respectful and reassuring home environment

About You

We are looking for experienced support workers who understand the importance of consistency, patience and genuine connection when supporting people with complex needs.

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

• Proven experience supporting people with complex disability support needs
• Experience responding to behaviours of concern with confidence and professionalism
• Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and person-centred practice
• The ability to remain calm, observant and responsive throughout overnight shifts
• Strong communication, documentation and incident-reporting skills
• Reliability and availability to work a set rotating overnight roster
• A genuine commitment to participant dignity, choice, safety and independence

Relevant qualifications, current sector clearances and demonstrated experience within complex support environments will be required.
