Sunshine Coast Independent Living Service (SCILS) is seeking passionate, skilled, and community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors.

For more than 35 years, SCILS has been supporting people with disability across the Sunshine Coast to live independently, participate in their communities, and achieve their goals. As a trusted not-for-profit charity and registered NDIS provider, we are committed to delivering high-quality supports that promote choice, inclusion, dignity, and opportunity.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are looking to make a meaningful contribution to their community and help guide the future direction of our organisation.

About the Role

As a member of the SCILS Board, you will work alongside fellow Directors and the Executive Leadership Team to provide governance, strategic direction, oversight, and support to the organisation.

Board Directors play an important role in helping ensure SCILS remains sustainable, forward-thinking, and focused on delivering quality services that positively impact the lives of people with disability.

This is a voluntary position.

Relevant qualifications may include:

• Allied Health
• Governance or Leadership Qualifications
• AICD (Australian Institute of Company Directors) Training

Previous Board experience is welcomed but not essential.

SCILS also encourages applications from individuals with lived experience of disability, family members, carers, and those passionate about creating inclusive communities.

Board Commitment

Board members are expected to:

• Attend regular Board meetings.
• Participate in strategic planning and governance activities.
• Review Board papers and organisational reports.
• Act in the best interests of SCILS.
• Uphold the values, mission, and objectives of the organisation.

Meetings are generally held monthly, with occasional additional meetings or sub-committee involvement as required.

Requirements

Successful applicants will be required to hold, or be willing to obtain:

• Current Blue Card
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)
• Current National Police Check
• Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (“Quality, Safety and You”)
• Commitment to the values and mission of SCILS
