A celebration of growth, trusted relationships, and the joy of community.

Felicity Green has been part of the SCILS community for many years, and in that time she has shown remarkable growth and maturity. Early on, Felicity worked with a variety of staff; over time, this evolved into mostly male support workers. Today, she is supported by a balanced, dedicated team of both female and male staff a trusted circle that understands her preferences, communicates consistently, and celebrates her strengths. This stable, person‑centred team has been foundational to Felicity’s progress.
Finding Her Voice
With support, Felicity has developed a softer, more community‑appropriate communication style that reflects her growing confidence and self‑awareness. Once shy and uncomfortable with attention, she now loves celebrating her birthday surrounded by her SCILS friends embracing the connection, joy, and sense of belonging that come with being part of a community that knows and appreciates her.
Exploring the Community—Her Way
SCILS has helped Felicity broaden her social world in ways that feel safe and meaningful. A favourite is her monthly Sunday outing, where she enjoys a coffee or tea, takes a walk, and explores the community. Sometimes playfully “in disguise” to keep things fun and at her pace. These experiences offer gentle structure and genuine choice, building positive memories and confidence in everyday settings.
A Garden to Grow With
On Mondays through Thursdays, Felicity tends the beautiful garden she created at SCILS, watering, caring, and watching it flourish with the support of her team. This project has helped her build practical skills and experience a deep sense of achievement. Especially when she picks and enjoys the fresh food she has grown herself. The garden has become a calm, purposeful routine that nurtures pride and wellbeing.
Trust, Regulation, and Wellbeing
Felicity demonstrates her respect for her team through her increasing confidence and her capacity to adjust to changes with far fewer behavioural responses. As her trust in her support network has strengthened, so too has her ability to navigate daily transitions, contributing to a more settled rhythm and positive day‑to‑day experiences.
Friends and Belonging
Watching Felicity’s growth at SCILS has been a joy for everyone involved. Her participation in group activities has grown significantly, and she has built a large, supportive friendship group—people who value her for who she is and whose appreciation is evident in every shared activity, celebration, and everyday moment.
Partnering with Allied Health
Throughout her time at SCILS, Felicity has been supported by many Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Speech Therapists, most often attending on Thursdays with her regular support worker. She has made outstanding progress in welcoming new allied health professionals and is now comfortable remaining in the room while discussions take place about her needs, strengths, and ongoing development. This is a significant step that reflects trust, self‑regulation, and readiness to participate in decisions about her support.

“Felicity’s journey shows what’s possible with the right support, steady routines, and genuine relationships. We’re incredibly proud of her courage, kindness, and growth.”
