Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Discover real independence in a home that’s truly yours.

What is Supported Independent
Living (SIL)?

Supported Independent Living (also called SIL) is an NDIS support under Home and Living that you can receive in a shared home with other like-minded people or in a home on your own.

SIL helps you to live as independently as possible while building your skills. It includes help or support with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals.

SIL is for people with disability who have higher support needs and need some level of help at home all the time.

SIL with Sunshine Coast Independent Living Service

Sunshine Coast Independent Living Service provides person centred Supported Independent Living (SIL) designed for you, by you.

We have a range of SIL homes available for people with disability in the greater Nambour area on the Sunshine Coast.

Our Difference

We’re not just another
“group home” provider.

You get to experience true
responsibility for your home and
live with like-minded people who
are carefully matched to suit you.

Your name is on the tenancy
agreement along with any other
house members.

We support you to have
responsibility for all tenancy
obligations, including furnishing
and decorating your home.

Support Is active,
flexible, and
chosen by you.

You are actively supported to be
involved in the daily running of
your home. We also encourage
you to play a valued role in your
community by participating in
activities you choose.

Our SIL supports are flexible,
allowing you to invite visitors, see
your friends and family, and spend
time away from the household as
you choose.

We strengthen your
support circle, not
replace it.

We become part of the trusted
circle of people who support you.
Our role also involves helping those
in your life better understand the
services that are tailored to your
unique needs and goals.

Our SIL teams have excellent
communication through a secure
platform. This helps us ensure we
can provide the highest continuity
of care and keep your support
circle informed of any updates.
